I love this picture. A Palestinian boy, who looks to be 9 or 10, standing up to an IDF soldier. Note the boy’s body language: broad shoulders, strong eye contact, an utter lack of fear for a soldier from an army known to brutalize and kill innocent civilians.
The soldier, hiding behind his helmet, body armor, and assault rifle, looks down on him with slumped shoulders and a pathetic look of contempt.
What’s happening here is a protest against the expropriation of Palestinian land in the West Bank to expand a Jewish settlement.
This is why the Palestinians will eventually triumph. Even their children are lions. Israeli soldiers, with all their air support, naval commando sneak attacks and nuclear weapons don’t have the courage to fight a fair fight. When do you see any unarmed Israelis getting in the face of armed (or otherwise!) Hamas or Hezbollah soldiers?
The key to asymmetric warfare is heart and will. Palestinians have it in spades. Israel’s day of reckoning will come sooner than many think…
